Job Purpose

To optimize sales and profit intensity of assigned retail space by optimizing allocation of selling area between categories and facilitating commercial Business Unit managers with the IBP and Category Management Process.



Job Responsibilities


Functional Accountabilities

Operations:

• Run/apply Category Review Schedule, track and manage exceptions. Agree with and communicate to the commercial team.
• Manage the assortment maintenance process and propose appropriate changes.
• Manage the creation, tracking and approval of all agreed types of Range Change Events.
• Apply and advise on merchandising inventory (Target Shelf Capacity) and financial merchandise planning model for each Business Unit Manager
• Influence and agree and define a Promotion & Markdown Strategy for each Business Unit Manager
• Analyze, share and draw insights from Retail Audits and Socio-Economic Data to support the development and growth of categories
• Manage item master, attributes and assortment data
• Manage relationships with Commercial Business Unit Manager and provide them space-aware analytics for their respective Business Units where required.
• Support Business Unit Managers with their inputs to the IBP process – analysis of challenges, opportunities
• Work with Operations Regional Managers to review performance for their respective stores while adding the space dimension to the same
• Work closely with the rest of the merchandising units to provide them analytics on their respective areas of interest


Finance:

• Ensure that budgeted costs are achieved or exceeded
• Ensure that the payroll budget is achieved


Customer:

• Ensure that all stakeholders in the merchandising process are kept updated on the processes and any changes
• Ensure that stakeholder feedback is sought, reviewed and where applicable used
• Carry out regular store visits across all formats to review implementations


Managerial Accountabilities

• Ensures all employees in his department have personal objectives and KPIs which cascade down the department deliverables, regularly reviews performance and provide annual performance rating for his direct reportees
• Role models the ethics and values of the business, demonstrate cultural sensitivity, and maintain high personal visibility in his own and other departments
• Plans and monitors training needs, provide professional coaching to his employees to ensure that they have the professional capability to fully deliver in their role and that they are working on a personal development plan
• Supports talent management and succession planning within the department
• Motivates employees and monitors employee satisfaction within his department and plans and executes plans to improve it
• Ensure optimum structure for his department and that positions are properly staffed and maintain high retention rates

Skills

Education

Master (Quantitative Preferred) / Bachelors


Experience, Skills & Competencies


• 5-10 years of work experience preferably with a MNC FMCG player
• English and Arabic Language (Written & Spoken)
• Computer Skills MS Office + preferably JDA CKB, Oracle RMS + AutoCAD
• Strong Analytical and Problem Solving Skills
• Ability to get along with large cross functional work teams
• Good communications and ability to put across ideas to large audience
